Heston MRO provides dedicated maintenance engineering services to the aviation sector, being truly independent in the industry. Having approximately 23 customers, primarily international, across our network of 6 Stations around Australia means that we are a successfully growing and sustaining our clients. 

With a large amount of customers comes a lot of employees, casuals and project staff, with that comes lots of payroll and so we are seeking a dedicated Payroll Clerk to focus solely on this element of our finance duties. 

About the Role

We are looking for a Payroll Clerk to join our 4 person Finance Team, based out at the Airport Industrial Precinct. The role is supported by a Senior Company Accountant and a Finance Manager. 

Our role is suitable as either a 9 day fortnight, having a Friday off every 2 weeks, or we are also open to those who are open to doing a minimum of 3 or 4 days a week. Hours can be flexible if you have a requirement for child pick up/drop off, or any other reason.

Some of the duties of this role include:- 

  • Fortnightly payroll run for all employees across our Australian Offices (including Casuals, permanent and Contract staff)
  • Reading and interpreting our Enterprise Bargaining Agreement to ensure all allowances are paid correctly to our employees 
  • Perform data entry into our pay-rolling system 
  • Updating payroll records by entering any changes to employee information or benefits such as job title changes, exemptions and saving deductions
  • Calculating payroll liabilities by determining employee taxes, including federal and state income and social security tax, and calculating employer’s payments for social security, unemployment and worker’s compensation
  • Resolving payroll discrepancies and answering any employee payroll queries
  • Time sheet data reviewing, prior to payroll run, using Zambion pay roll system
  • Cross checking hours worked across our offices with our Station Managers, which will include internal stake holder liaising with other teams and managers 

What is needed to be successful in applying for our role?

  • Ideally if you come from a blue collar space, this would be ideal, but not essential 
  • You will be a permanent resident of Australia, or a citizen of Australia 
  • You will have a car to get to and from the office, as public transport is not very frequent 
  • You will hold a Certificate IV in Payroll Administration or similar, with at least 4 years payroll experience
  • Ideally experience in Zambion, which is our pay-rolling system
